The Cool Docks are honored to declare that the Cool Docks, collaborated with ArtThat and the subordinate KOCA Art Space, will hold DUANG Easter Eggs Art Invitational during the Easter events, inviting artists to exhibit their unique contemporary art works on the Easter eggs.
Eggs are the most typical symbols of the Easter, which mean surprise and trick. Easter eggs have turned from a game in the Easter to a synonym for surprise in different fields. In the same way, the hot word “Duang” has turned up. It came from an onomatopoeia effect in the Shampoo advertisement represented by the famous actor Jackie Chan. Now it presents a mean of expression for everything beyond imagination. The prosperity and evolution of the contemporary art also plays a role which deals with the daily images through the special visual effects when tradition and modernity are experiencing intense conflicts. In the language of artists, some transform the illusion of life or movies into shooting scripts, some turn the traditional lines to 3D, some find the weight sense from the daily objects. This time, Easter eggs have become the different carriers while various representations of arts’ works on them are expected.
The Cool Docks have changed the identity from old lanes on the riverside and a community of Shanghai Stone Gates to a landmark of Cultural and Creative Park, combined with contemporary art and traditional culture again perfectly. Therefore, it’s the right time for the Cool Docks to hold the Easter Eggs Art Invitational Exhibition.
Let’s “DUANG” together and get a surprise!
