A Metaphor For Calm And Frenzy In ‘The Wait’ Editorial by Michelle Watt

By Timestamp Your Works On The Blockchain and under our copyright protection, ArtThat is dedicated to act as a platform for artists to unleash their potentials by displaying their distinct and novel artwork in front of the public.

Inspired by Atelier Aveus’s furniture collection emoting visual codes for waiting, shot for Blanc Magazine’s Freedom Issue by the talented photographer Michelle Watt, this fashion series follows a young woman displaced in a surreal waiting room in the midst of travel.

Here, the wait is depicted as a metaphor for an “introspective” state, revealing tension that occurs between patience and impatience, ‘calm and frenzy’. In this room, she is alone and begins to feel the mania of “contemplation”, passivity and the distortion of time”.

As she submits further to this condition, she embraces her growing fervor, no longer sitting tight or holding back, embracing restraint, becoming free to embody a pure, primitive self.

As the story progresses, the waiting room melds into a dressing room, a sanctuary where a woman is safe to unravel and come undone.
